Layoffs here and there have resulted to an increased unemployment rate of 8.9 percent in the United States. The layoffs are still continuing so it is possible that this rate might increase in the long run.
However, there are still bright spots for the persistent job hunter. Industries such as health and education, and the federal government are hiring thousands of workers for different positions.
